Academy travelled to Turriff today and it looked as if they had pulled off a great result but 2 goals in the last 2 minutes of the game saw Turriff run out the winners. Geruzel and Cumming picked up red cards in the first half, and Grant Campbell was also sent off with 15 minutes left to play. 9 men Academy then opened the scoring through substitute Weir but they couldn't hold on and Turriff nicked it with goals from Bowden and Mackie in the dying stages of the game.
The home side created the first chance within 3 minutes. Andy MacAskill played a defence splitting pass into the feet of Jamie Beagrie who went one-on-one with Sean McCarthy but McCarthy stood big and blocked the shot with his chest. The ball broke to the edge of the box and Turriff had another crack on target but McCarthy got down well and pushed it out for a corner.
On the quarter hour Turriff created another good chance then the ball broke for Jamie Beagrie on the edge of the box. He got a shot on target that McCarthy got a hand to it and the ball was cleared up-field. Sam Mackay was on the end of a hard tackle and things kicked off. Geruzel pushed a Turriff player before referee Alex Shepherd intervened and both Geruzel and Stuart Cumming received a red card.
Academy's first real chance of the game came in the 24th minute. Macadie swung a free kick into the Turriff box and Michael Steven had a header on target that keeper McCaffrey saved. Academy shouted for a penalty as Steven looked to have been stood upon whilst on the deck but referee Shepherd was having none of it.
Just before the half-time break Turriff should have opened the scoring. The ball was played over the top of the Academy defence to Nicky Gray who went one-on-one with McCarthy but the Academy keeper again made a great save getting a toe on the ball leaving Mackay to clear the danger for a corner.

Academy made a change for the start of the second half with Jack Halliday coming on for Sam Mackay.
6 minutes into the second half and the home side created another good chance. Lewis Davidson fed the ball up the right flank to Beagrie who cut into the box and got a shot on target that McCarthy managed to turn around the post.
Academy should have opened the scoring in their next attack. A long ball was played forward by McCarthy which was not dealt with by the Turriff centre-half allowing Davie Allan in on the keeper but McCaffrey turned it away for a corner.
Good Academy pressure created another chance. Jack Halliday nicked the ball in mid-field and he drove forward before delivering a pass to Davie Allan. The ball got caught under Allan's feet but he still managed to get a shot off but McCaffrey was again on hand to keep the scores to zero turning it for another corner.
Weir came on for Macadie as Academy hunted for the opening goal and Turriff made a similar change taking Garry Harris off for Daren Mackie.
A minute after the change Academy went down to 9 men when Grant Campbell picked up his second booking of the game.
Joy for the Academy support was soon however to follow when the Scorries took the lead. Ross Allan drove up the left wing and played a one-two with Stevie Cunningham. Allan then squared the ball to Weir about 12 yards from goal and Weir hammered home with a low right foot shot.

Its end-to-end stuff and Turriff had a chance to level. They won a corner on the right which was taken by Andrew MacAskill. Jamie Beagrie got his head to the ball and it was cleared off the line by Stevie Cunningham.
