Match Report

Two goals in two minutes, one being contender for the goal of the season, is all that can really be written about this game as neither side really got out of first gear, and goal-scoring opportunities were as few as could be counted on one hand. A strong cross-wind and a heavy park probably had a bearing on the outcome which was certainly no footballing spectacle for the 400 odd spectators.

Clach came North having won their last six games and they took the lead in the 33rd minute when referee Ryan Milne awarded a penalty after David McGurk was bundled over in the Academy box by Davie Allan who got booked for the challenge. The ever reliable Gordie Morrison took the spot kick and made no mistake slotting home into the right corner of James More's net.

Academy won a free-kick from the re-start when McGurk fouled Gary Weir about 20 yards from the Clach goal. Richard Macadie stepped up to take the kick and sent a stunning right foot effort over the wall and into the top right hand corner of keeper John Campbell's net.

Half Time - 1 - 1

Clach had the best chance of the second half when ex Inverness Caley Thistle and Elgin City striker Dachi Khutsishvill whipped a strike across the face of the Academy goal which More got a right hand to tipping it around the post for a corner.

Michael Steven had a first-time strike at another free-kick delivered into the box by Macadie that he fired straight to keeper Campbell.

Sam Mackay then had a free header from about 6 yards out that he probably should have hit the target with but at any rate he was adjudged to be off-side.

Full Time 1 - 1

The first round of this season's Highland League Cup now starts next weekend and Academy have a home tie against Lossiemouth.
