There were 8 first half goals at Dudgeon Park tonight with Brora marching into the North of Scotland Cup final with a 6-2 win over Academy. They now go on to face Nairn County in the final. The result is a bitter disappointment for Academy who must now re-focus on league business with a visit by current champions Cove Rangers on Saturday.
Within a minute of the kick-off Brora created a good chance. Ryan Watson took a throw-in on the left that found its way to Andrew Greig and he got a shot on target that James More saved.
On 4 minutes Academy opened the scoring. Gary Weir played a long ball over the top of the Brora defence for Davie Allan who ran onto it. He held off his marker and from just inside the Brora box he slotted home with a right foot shot.
0 - 1
The lead only lasted a minute. Zander Sutherland latched onto a through ball. He looked as if he was just off-side, but the linesman played on and from 12 yards out he lifted the ball into the roof of the net.
1 - 1
4 minutes later Academy struck back to regain the lead. Sam Mackay rose for a high ball and won it to knock it to Gary Weir. Weir split the Brora defence and played in Davie Allan. Joe Malin came to close the angle but Allan squared for Richard Macadie who took a touch before firing home.
1 - 2
Academy again failed to keep the advantage for more than a few minutes. James More shouted to claim a crossed ball but failed to clear and it fell to Sutherland who lifted the ball into the net.
2 - 2
The goals were raining in and Brora took the lead on the quarter hour mark. Richard Hart took a corner on the right. More came to claim but Ross Tokely got his head to it first to nod home.
3 - 2
2 minutes later and Brora increased their advantage. Zander Sutherland got the better of Alan Farquhar on the right touch-line and he fired in a low cross. Michael Steven failed to clear and the ball fell to Steven Mackay who made no mistake from 12 yards.
4 - 2
Shaun Sinclair was then booked for a late tackle on Andrew Greig. A minute later and Shaun was replaced by James Pickles. Michael Steven switched to right-back, Craig Shearer was moved to centre-half and James into the middle of the park.
28 minutes in and Brora went nap. Greig on the left crossed the ball into the Academy box. Alan Farquhar managed to get his head to it but could only clear to the edge of the box where Martin Maclean side-stepped a challenge and slotted home.
5 - 2
More saved a volley from Zander Sutherland but minutes later Brora won a penalty when Michael Steven was adjudged to have fouled Andrew Greig in the box. Referee Graham Fraser pointed to the spot and Zander Sutherland sent More the wrong way and slotted home for his hat-trick.
6 - 2
Just before the half-time interval an off-the-ball incident between Andrew Greig and Michael Steven, where Greig looked to have lifted his hands on Steven, went un-noticed by the officials and Brora went into the break with a 4 goal lead.

Academy kept plugging and created another good chance. Ross Allan took a throw-in from the left to Geruzel. He played a one-two with Davie Allan but from a tight angle Geruzel fired over the cross-bar.
Academy created another chance on 56 minutes. Macadie played the ball to Davie Allan down the inside right channel. Allan squared across goal where Geruzel came storming in but he just couldn't stretch enough to get contact on the ball.
On 65 minutes Academy made their final change with James Murray coming on for Richard Macadie.
Brora came close again on 66 minutes. Hart charged down a Ross Allan pass and broke up the park. He crossed to the back post where Steven Mackay was unmarked and he managed to get as shot on target that More did well to save.
