Match Report

Academy are on the road again today with a trip to Victoria Park, Buckie. Buckie haven't had the best of starts to their season, but the league is so tight this year that any team that can go on a good run is going to be in the mix. This fixture ended 3-3 back in December 2011, so hopefully the lads can nick all 3 points this time around.

Sam Mackay is suspended so sits this one out. James Pickles makes the starting line-up, and Lukasz Geruzel starts ahead of Gary Weir.

Academy take the lead after just 6 mins. Davie Allan fought hard for the ball on the half-way line and drove forward with it. He worked the ball into the box and got a good shot on target that keeper Kevin Main saved, but the re-bound came back to Allan. He looked up and squared it across the face of goal for Richard Macadie to slot home from 6 yards out.

0 - 1

Academy have had the upper hand in the first quarter of the game and look as if there are more goals to follow.

Academy win a corner and the ball is played out to Stevie Cunningham. He hits a screamer from 30 yards out that flew into the left hand corner of the net.

0 - 2

Lewis MacKinnon takes down Davie Allan on the edge of the Buckie box and is booked. Richard Macadie got the resulting free-kick on target, but Main made the save.

Academy go three up in the 35th minute. Stevie Cunningham knocked the ball wide to Richard Macadie. He drove in towards goal and lashed a 20 yarder into the top left hand corner of Main's goal.

0 - 3

Half Time – Buckie Thistle 0 – Wick Academy 3

Academy start the second half on the attack and increase their lead. Davie Allan hit the after-burner and tore up the wing, cut the ball across goal and Lukasz Geruzel slotted home from 5 yards out.

0 - 4

Gary Weir comes on for Lukasz Geruzel. Within minutes of being on the park he is taken down in the box and referee Andy Milne pointed to the spot. Richard Macadie slotted home the penalty for his hat-trick and the Scorries go nap.

0 - 5

It's raining goals at Victoria Park as Academy score again. Davie Allan again shows his blistering pace up the right flank and he drove the ball hard across the face of goal for Macadie to grab his 4th of the game as he scores from 6 yards out.

0 - 6

Within a minute Macadie bags his 5th goal of the game. Everything is falling for him and he made no mistake from 8 yards out as Davie Allan again supplied the perfect ball.

0 - 7

Full Time - Buckie Thistle 0 - Wick Academy 7

The win is our biggest ever against Buckie and it’s the first time an Academy player has scored 5 goals in a single game since we joined the Highland League back in 1994. Mark Nichol scored 4 against Rothes in 2006, and Macadie also grabbed 4 against Strathspey in 2009. Macadie hit another land-mark today as his 2nd goal took him through the 100 competitive goal barrier for Academy. To top it all it is also Academy's best away win, and the result today has us back to the top of the table as Cove drew 2-2 with Brora.

Richard's Grandfather Bill Mackay still holds the Club record for most goals scored in a single game. He slotted home six in a North Cup game against Brora on the 14th Feb 1959.

Manager's Programme Notes

Very well done to Richard Macadie in scoring 5 goals today. His second goal with his 100th competitive strike for the club.
