Wick Academy march into the final of the North of Scotland Cup after a comprehensive beating of local rivals Brora Rangers. Academy will now meet Nairn County in the final which is scheduled for the 20th October at Grant Street Park Inverness. Academy fans turned out in their numbers tonight and the noise level at the Harmsworth was at full volume for the bulk of the game. The Academy players to a man put on a performance that will live long in the memory as they battled and scrapped for every loose ball, and whilst in possession played some great silky football.
Academy had the better of the first 15 minutes and forced several corners, Ally Ridgers saving a shot from Mackay with his legs to turn it past his post.
Macadie also had a great effort as from the right hand edge of the penalty area he looked up and tried a cheeky dink over the head of Ridgers but the keeper got a hand to it to turn it over his cross bar.
On 16 minutes Macadie crossed for Lukasz Geruzel who was unmarked in the box but the big Polish striker missed a relatively easy chance to increase his season's goal tally.
Davie Allan then had shot that again shaved the outside of the Brora woodwork as Academy pushed for the opening goal.
The opener wasn't much longer in the making as Craig Shearer rose highest in the box to get his head to a free-kick and he sent it into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

2 minutes later Academy doubled their lead. The Brora defence made the mistake of standing off Richard Macadie as he drove forward and from 25 yards he smashed the ball home into Ridger's bottom right hand corner.
2 - 0
Up the other end of the park Michael Gray pulled off a wonderful one handed diving save to deny Ritchie Hart.
Just past the half hour Sam Mackay charged through midfield and slid the ball to Geruzel and he powered a firecracker that looked as if it would have burst the net but it whistled just past the base of the left hand post.
Brora were forced to make a change in the 34th minute when Grant Innes left the field injured. He was replaced by Sandy MacLeod.
In the next attack Ridgers was again called into action as he beat away another shot from Macadie.
Half time Wick Academy 2 - Brora Rangers 0
Academy made a change at the start of the second half as Craig Shearer was replaced by Gary Manson
4 mins into the second half Academy scored again. This time James Pickles marched towards the Brora defence who again stood and admired as he smoked an absolute screamer from 25 yards low past Ridger's right hand for his first Academy goal.
3 - 0
Brora should have pulled a goal back minutes later when Liam Baxter had a yard in the box but he gave the chance up as he screwed his shot wide of target when it looked easier to have scored.
Brora had another chance in their next attacking move as Gary Kerr was played in on goal with a neat pass but Gray was smart off his line and made a brave save at his feet to smother the ball.
Academy made their second change in the 75th minute when Geruzel left the park for Gary Weir.
11 minute from full time Baxter again worked a good position for himself but he scuffed his shot straight to Gray.
3 minutes from full time Ross Allan came on for Sam Mackay.
A minute later Macadie hit a 20 yard corker off his laces that looked goal-bound but Ridgers appeared to get finger-tips to it to knock it onto the post. Weir followed in to snaffle up the re-bound but was flagged off-side.
Academy kept possession of the ball to run down the final few minutes and when referee Graham Elder blew the final whistle the text messages were already being exchanged to get the busses organised for the final.
