Academy hope to retain their unbeaten league record today with a trip to Princess Royal Park to meet Deveronvale. Vale did the double over us last season winning this fixture 2-0, and also beating us at Harmsworth Park 2-1.
It's a glorious day in Banff and the game has just kicked off.
A bad start for Academy with Vale going a goal up in the 2nd minute. Vale won a corner and Academy failed to properly clear it. The ball was knocked back into the box and after a bit of ping-pong was flicked to the back post where Kris Duncan headed it home from 2 yards out.

Vale have hit the post but in the 18th minute Academy had a great chance. Davie Allan broke free in mid-field and burst between 2 Vale defenders. He slid the ball past keeper McConnachie but it shaved the outside of the right hand post.
The home side increase their lead in the 26th minute. Some powder-puff Academy tackling allowed Vale to break down the left flank and Graeme Watt ran on and finished into the top corner from 14 yards out.
2 - 0
7 minutes from the half-time break Academy have another scoring opportunity. Davie Allan broke up the wing and crossed for Lukasz Geruzel. He controlled the ball before teeing it up for Richard Macadie but keeper McConnachie saved the shot with his legs and Vales cleared their lines.
39 minutes played and Vale increase their lead. A James Pickles pass was intercepted and the ball was played through to Kris Duncan and he rifled home low to the inside of Gray's right hand post.

Half Time - Deveronvale 3 - Wick Academy 0
4 minutes after the break Academy go 4 goals down. A long ball is played over the top of Stewart Ross. Craig Morrison got the ball before looking up and rifling a 18 yard shot into the top right hand corner.
4 - 0
The home side go nap just past the hour. The ball is cut across the 18 yard line and Michele Lombardi took it in his stride and hammer it into the roof of the net.
5 - 0
On the 68th minute things got worse for the Scorries as Vale scored their 6th goal of the game. Craig Morrison for his second with a diving header across Gray and into the net.
6 - 0
Full Time - Deveronvale 6 - Wick Academy 0
So not a good day for the Scorries, and far from ideal preparation for next Saturday's Scottish Cup tie against Spartans, but I am sure Kirkie will sort it out in time for next weekend. The last time we shipped 6 goals was against Rothes at Mackessack Park in May 2010.
