Match Report

Academy are back on league business today. Stewart Ross is back from injury and John Seaton makes the starting line-up. Gary Weir starts on the bench along with Academy young-guns MacKenzie and Cumming.

Academy start brightly and have their first attempt in the 5th minute, Gary Farquhar shooting from 18 yards that keeper MacDonald holds.

Academy open the scoring in the 8th minute. Gary Farquhar floats a free-kick into the Fort box from the touch-line. It falls to Craig Shearer in the box and he headed home from 6 yards out.

0 - 1

Academy are dominating possession and have two half chances in as many minutes. Shearer shooting wide in the 21st minute from 12 yards and a minute later Martin Gunn heads wide from a crossed ball.

The Scorries double their lead in the 27th minute. Good wing play by John Seaton and he delivers a cross that Richard Macadie fires home from 18 yards. Keeper MacDonald did manage to get a hand to it but he couldn't keep it out.

0 - 2

Fort pull a goal back and get right back into the game in the 35th minute. Referee Bicknell blows for a penalty as he adjudges that Stewart Ross fouled Graeme MacKenzie right in the edge of the Academy box. MacKenzie takes the spot-kick and as More dives to his left MacKenzie sends it straight down the middle.

1 - 2

In the last minute of the half Gary Farquhar floats the ball into the Fort box from a wide angle. The Fort defence fail to deal with it and Andrew MacLeod, Alan Sinclair and Craig Shearer all have attempts on goal that are cleared, eventually for a corner-kick.

Half time 1 - 2

Academy start the half on the attack and within a minute Richard Macadie gets a shot off from 22 yards out that goes wide of goal.

That is followed by another great free-kick from Gary Farquhar that Andrew Macleod gets on the end off but he heads wide from 6 yards out

Chris Drain does well for Fort William in the 50th minute getting a shot on goal from 20 yards out but More gets his body behind it for a good save.

Fort go down to 10 men in the 51st minute. The lines-man spotted an off the ball incident between Martin Gunn and Sandy Hazelton where Hazelton appeared to punch Gunn. He drew the attention of the referee and after a brief discussion referee Bicknall produces the red card and Hazelton is sent off. In the same incident Shaun Sinclair is booked for getting unnecessarily involved

Academy make their fist change in the 53rd minute, with Gary Weir coming on for John Seaton.

Weir is only 8 minute on the park and he scores to restore Academy's 2 goal lead. Bryan McKiddie did well down the right channel before feeding to Richard Macadie who fired in a low cross to the Fort box, and Weir slotted home from 6 yards out.

1 - 3

A minute later and Weir almost gets his second, but his shot from 18 yards just fizzes over the top of MacDonald's cross-bar.

81st minute and young Andrew Cumming makes his senior team debut for Academy, coming on for Bryan McKiddie.

Academy seal the game in the 84th minute. Martin Gunn slotted the ball through the middle of the field to the feet of Gary Weir. Weir dribbled past 3 Fort defenders from 18 yards out and from the edge of the 6 yard box fired home past keeper MacDonald.

1 - 4

As the goal is score Academy make their final change with another young starlet Scott MacKenzie coming on for Craig Shearer.

Academy run down the clock controlling the game to the end to claim a valuable 3 league points, taking them up one league position to 8th.

Gary Weir is named as man of the match.
