Academy travel to Harlaw Park today brimming with confidence following the result against Cove last weekend. Richard Macadie has the flu and didn't make the trip.

Within two minutes of the kick-off Inverurie take the lead. Craig Ross drove down the wing and crossed into the box for John Maitland to rise unchallenged and head home into the top right hand corner.

1 - 0

9 minutes played and Academy almost square the scores. Sam Mackay slipped a great pass into the box for Bryan McKiddie. He went one-on-one with keeper Andy Reid and got his toe to the ball, but Reid blocked it and the ball looped up before being cleared off the line by a scrambling Locos defence.

Academy are forced into making a change with only 15 minutes played. Sam Mackay went into a tackle and sustained an injury. He is replaced with Andrew MacLeod.

Inverurie go on the attack and Kevin Neish broke through the Academy defence and went one-on-one with Bokas, but Bokas made a good block with feet turning the ball for a corner.

2 minutes later it's Academy's turn to attack. Manson played the ball up to David Allan and he cut the ball across to the feet of Stevie Cunningham at the edge of the box, but he shot high and wide.

23 minutes played and Locos make a change. Brian Neill off for Neil Gauld.

38 minutes on the clock and Inverurie double their advantage. John Maitland played a neat one-two with Tommy Wilson and from 25 yards Maitland curled a shot beyond Bokas into the top corner of the net.

Half Time 2 - 0

Academy have two good chances at the start of the second half. Cunningham and Allan exchanged passes but Allan's shot was saved by keeper Reid. McKiddie then dinked a great pass over the top of the Locos defence for Allan and he tried to lob the keeper but he got a hand to the ball to knock it over the cross bar.

Locos look to have sealed the three points. A long ball is crossed into the Academy box. Bokas and Macleod had a bit of a mix-up and the ball ran through to the back post for Gauld to get there just before Farquhar and the ball crept over the line.

3 - 0

Academy spurn another chance to get back into the game. Joe Steven had a 30 yard shot charged down. The ball spun up in the air and Allan got his head to it inside the box but his attempt went wide of the target.

Locos almost increase their lead in the 28th minute. They played a short corner and Gauld crossed it in for Adam Maitland but his header cannoned off the post.

A minute later and it's game over for the Scorries. Neish smacked a 30 yard shot which Bokas parried out. Clark Bain reacted the quickest and got  shot on target that Bokas got a hand to, but he couldn't prevent the ball from crossing the line.

4 - 0

3 minutes for time Locos almost go nap. Craig Ross fired in a 30 yard free-kick that Bokas spilled at the back post. In the resulting scramble Allan managed to clear the danger.

Full Time - 4 - 0

A disappointing result for Academy who now hit the road next weekend for the Scottish Cup second round tie against Whitehill Welfare.
