WAFC U17's 4 - Clach U17's 0
Wick Academy v Clach
Wick entertained a very good Clach side on Sunday the 12th for the fans that turned up they were treated to a game that was full of good football on both sides, but Academy always just having the edge.
The game started at a brisk pace with Academy moving the ball around well always keeping the ball on the ground, but having to deal with a hard working Clach side in the process.
Academy took the lead on 20 minutes when a through ball was chased down by Alan Hughes, this caused confusion the away defence which allow Alan to score an easy tap in.
It has to be said tho that Clach played some good stuff in spells but with the Academy defence always in control of the situation.
End of first period 1-0
Academy continued to use the ball well in the second period while the first goal was a tap in the second goal was as good a goal you ll see all season (man of the match) Marc Coghill who was now starting to have a major influence in midfield picked the ball up 30 yards out he beat two players and unleashed a shot that flew into the top right hand corner to make the score 2- 0.
End of second period 2-0
The third period was very much the same with the young Academy team playing good stuff, but always being pressed and closed down by Clach. The third goal was scored by Ryan Begg, who also had a very good game when he scored at the back post after finding space from a set play 3-0
The fourth goal from a football point of view was a treat, it started when James Mackay picked up a pass at the half way line in the wide right position, his first touch took him inside away from his marker, his next was a superb pass that Ryan Begg who made a great over lap latched onto Ryan's first touch was to send in a low cross to the back post for Alan Hughes to smash home 4-0.
