A clinical Cove Rangers fired six passed Academy today to clock up another three points. That's the first game away from home this season that Academy have lost. Academy were without the services of; Sam Mackay, Alan Farquhar, Sean McCarthy, Ross Allan and Michael Petrie but that said Cove took their chances very well today and deserved their win.

Cove opened the scoring after only 3 minutes. Darryn Kelly send the ball down the right wing sending Mitchel Megginson on his way. He drove to the bye-line and sent over a low cross that Harry Milne who was unmarked at the back post and he side footed home from 8 yards out.

Cove capitalised from slack play in the Academy defence which allowed Megginson in one-on-one with keeper Michael MacCallum. MacCallum came out and narrowed the angle and knocked the shot away with his foot for a corner.

Just before the half-hour the home side doubled their advantage. Megginson was proving to be a real hand-full and he burst down the right wing and his cross into the box found the on-rushing Blair Yule and fired the ball high into the net from 12 yards out.

Two minutes later Cove knocked in number three. The move started from Megginson who picked the ball up and drove into the box. He went around the advancing MacCallum and got a shot on target that Grant Steven cleared off the line for a corner. From the corner MacCallum punched it out to the edge of the box for Blair Yule who swung it into the back post for Stuart Walker to head home.

Academy had two half chances before the break. Steven Anderson had a header that went wide of target from a corner, and Anderson then had a left foot shot from the edge of the box that flew just passed the top left hand corner of the net.

Half Time - Cove Rangers 3 - Wick Academy 0

Cove started the second half with another goal. A long throw-in just inside the Cove half on the right hand side was flicked onto Jonny Smith. He crossed into the box for Harry Milne in the centre of goal and he lashed home high onto the net from 12 yards out for his second of the afternoon.

4 - 0

Megginson got a great touch on a crossed ball from Connor Scully but it shot straight down the throat of MacCallum.

Substitute Daniel Park stung the hands of MacCallum with a powerful drive and shortly afterwards on 85 minutes they went nap. The ball was worked in behind the Academy defence to Megginson who took his time to round keeper MacCallum and he slotted into the empty net.

5 - 0

Academy's afternoon went from bad to worse as the final goal of the game came from an unfortunate OG from youngster Andrew Mackay, who turned a low drive from Daniel Park into his own net passed a helpless MacCallum.
