Academy ran out 2-1 winners at Station Park today. A first half goal from Steven Anderson, his 8th of the season, had Academy in control at half time.

Ross Naismith pulled back the equaliser for the hosts with only 6 minutes left to play, but Davie Allan tucked in the winner 2 minutes from full time to give Academy all three points.

Academy started the game well and had a great chance to open the scoring after only three minutes. Defender Jack MacLean threw his body on the line as he blocked a Steven Anderson shot from only 8 yards out.

A few minutes later a low ball across the face of the Academy goal delivered by Gary Kerr only just evaded the outstretched Dylan Mackenzie.

Kerr was in the action again as his shot from a tight angle was well saved by Sean McCarthy.

Good defending by Steven MacKenzie kept the scores at nil, as he blocked a shot from Marc MacGregor.

Academy took the lead five minutes from the half-time break. A Sam Mackay free kick was collected by Steven Anderson with his back to goal. He turned on a sixpence and smacked a 20 yard screamer into the net.

Half Time - Nairn County 0 - Wick Academy 1

Davie Allan came close to doubling the advantage but good defending again, this time by Dylan Maclean, saw the ball being blocked at the foot of the near post.

Nairn's equaliser came on 84 minutes. A cross by Ross Naismith was collected by Sean McCarthy under his cross-bar before being dropped at his feet. The linesman flagged as he thought the ball had crossed the line, and referee Thomas Shaw awarded the goal.

1 - 1

2 minutes from full time a great bit of flowing football from Academy lead to Richard Macadie playing Davie Allan into the box and he swept home the winner from close range.
