Academy made the mid-week to trek to Seafield Park without the services of Gary Manson who was suspended following his sending off against Huntly, as well as Grant Steven and Danny McCarthy who were both injured. Sam Mackay returned from his two game suspension and Andrew Hardwick got start in defence.

Neither side could create a clear chance within the first half hour with the first real opportunity coming on 34 minutes for Academy. From the half-way line Sam Mackay pinged a ball up to Richard Macadie on the edge of the Strathspey box. Macadie took a touch to settle before getting a shot off which went just wide of the post.

A few minutes later Strathspey had their first shot on target. A throw-in near the corner flag on the Strathspey left wing found Owen Cairns on the edge of the box but he shot straight to Sean McCarthy who made a comfortable save.

On 38 minutes referee David Baxter awarded Academy a penalty. It came from a ball over the top to Davie Allan on the edge of the box. He was bundled down by a Strathspey defender and after consulting with his assistant referee Baxter booked keeper David Aitchison for something presumably said off the ball. Macadie took the spot kick and it stroked it passed the keeper into his left hand side of the net.

Half Time - Strathspey Thistle 0 - Wick Academy 1

Academy doubled their advantage three minutes after the re-start. Mackay fed Marc MacGregor up the right flank. MacGregor moved inside the box and got a shot on target that keeper Aitchison managed to block, but Macadie was on hand to snaffle it up and grab his second goal of the game firing home the re-bound from about 12 yards out.

0 - 2

Strathspey had another half-sniff to pull something back. Jack Maley played a long ball from the centre circle up to Nick Stein on the edge of the box, but under pressure from the Academy back-line he could only scuff his attempt wide of target.

Jack Mackay for Strathspey was next to get into a good positon but he too shot wide of goal.

Academy put the game to bed in the 77th minute. Macadie picked the ball up in the middle of the field and he played it up to Davie Allan. Allan drove into the box and squared the ball across goal for Marc MacGregor who had a tap-in from 10 yards out.

0 - 3

That was MacGregor's last involvement as he was replaced by Andrew Mackay. Andrew wasn't long on the park before he was in the action as he played the ball in behind the Strathspey right back to Danny Mackay. He squared a low cross for Sam Mackay who fired a left foot shot straight down the throat of keeper Aitchison.

Both sides made their final substitutions of the game which ran down the clock and Academy claim all three points.
