Following the 2-2 draw are Harmsworth Park last weekend it was Academy's turn to hit the road with a visit to Ferguson Park to face Whitehill Welfare in the William Hill Scottish Cup 1st round replay.

Academy were without the services of the Steven brothers today who couldn't make the trip due to work commitments.

Academy got off to a great start with Sam Mackay and Steven Anderson scoring to put the Scorries in at the break two goals to the good.

Welfare keeper Bryan Young saved Richard Macadie penalty to keep the lead at two.

Anthony Muir pulled a goal back for the home sided before Sam Mackay bagged his second of the game to restore the advantage.

Whitehill showed their battling spirit as Muir again got on the score-sheet to set up a tense finish.

Academy however held out and now face an away tie against Nairn County on the 24th October in the second round.
