Is 5th in the league the best WAFC has ever achieved?? 8)
Admin's Comment: Alex - 10th is the highest we've ever finished prior to this season, so a 5th or 6th place this year will smash that particular statistic.

On behalf of Thurso Youth Club FC, I would like to record our thanks to WAFC for the fantastic day out we had at the Harmsworth Park on Saturday 18th October 2008. Particular thanks to Pat Miller for the kids coaching session, Allan Tait for organising and looking after us and for John Briskham for making it happen. The kids and us coaches had a great day out. Really enjoyed watching the scorries against Brora & Lossiemouth with some old friends Willie & Gerald, who i have'nt seen for 25yrs but who recognised me at the Brora game, fantastic.Academy look like they could do quite well this season, especially if Jocky keeps hitting the back of the net. I hope your good results continue & you have a successfull season. :grin

8) The E.S.B.W.A.F.C returned to the home of football this weekend for our second visit and yet again it did not disappoint. The only downer was I didn’t pack my Sun Protection Factor 25, it was that hot in the Main Stand with the Sun and not just because Moira said it was being sat next to her!
A great result followed by an excellent testimonial dinner for Martin Gunn.
In the days of over priced commercial football at the top end of the scale it’s refreshing to know that at grass roots Wick have a great community team looked after by a group of the most wonderful and friendliest people you would wish to meet.
Long may our association with the club continue.

Both Jason and I wanted to say a very very big thanks to all at Wick Academy for your kindness and superb hospitality shown to us both during our visit to the club at the weekend. Never would we have dreamed that we would have had such a wonderful and memorable trip.
There is so many people to thank, so please forgive us if we don't give a specific mention to you all but our memory for names deteriorated somewhat after our tenth glass of Old Pulteney whisky!.
Special thanks to Colin for the invitation of the hospitality and the continued supply of whisky from Georgia, Patsy, Helen and Frances. Ken, it was a pleasure to hear your wonderful stories and your infectious dedication to Wick (and Arsenal) and for meeting us at the station on Sunday with a supply of programmes. To John for his sense of humor. Thanks to Tichie & Peter for allowing us to provide our tactical tips and football awareness together with a few beers. Not sure which was most effective! Most of all thanks to Peter and his lovely wife Moira for allowing us
into your home.We are not sure whether it was Moira's Indian with extra Chilies or her wicked sense of humor which brought the most tears to our eyes. We would also like to say thanks to their poor daughter who had to listen to our ramblings and thanks for sticking up for me when your mum insisted I sounded like Joe Pasquale!
Well again a big thanks to you all and the very best for the future.
Once our livers have recovered we will be back.
Kind Regards
Mark & Jason.

Great Site.
Looking forward to our trip up on the 29th to see Saturdays match v Clachnacuddin.....We are travelling on the Friday at 6am - All the way from the South Coast on a 17 hour train trip!
Look forward to meeting some of you then, and if anyone can recommend a friendly drinking establishment for the Saturday night, that would be great.
Jason & Mark.
Admin's Comment: Jason - glad you like the site. After the game the team and most fans normally go to the Back Bridge Street club, which is down the street from the ground. Otherwise the Queens Hotel is also worth a visit.
