When the sides last met in August at Harmsworth Park a late injury time equaliser by Deveronvale broke Academy hearts. Today the roles were reversed.

A first half goal from Robert Scott looked enough for the Vale win but in the 92nd minute Jack Henry found the net to earn the Scorries a point.

Academy fell behind after only 11 minutes when Robert Scott swept home a Colin Charlesworth cut-back from the right wing.

Charlesworth slid the ball into the Academy penalty area and it was cut out by Gary Manson but he toe-poked it to McCarthy who picked It up and referee Dan McFarlane deemed it a back-pass and awarded Vale an indirect free-kick inside the box. Harry Noble took the free-kick but fired it high over the crossbar.

Alan Farquhar hooked a shot on target from a corner that caused a scramble in the Deveronvale box but they eventually cleared the danger.

Despite suffering the blow of Craig Gunn hobbling off injured midway through the first half, Wick regrouped and proceeded to hurl everything at the Vale defence.

Richard Macadie had a shot cleared off the line, while Vale keeper James Blanchard pulled off a number of saves, in particular from Henry and Gordon MacNab.

Robert Scott forced a good save for Sean McCarthy.

Into injury time and just as it looked as if the Scorries would be heading back empty-handed they broke forward and Jack Henry latched onto a crossed ball from the right flank that the Vale defence failed to clear. He kept his composure and steered a low shot passed keeper James Blanchard into the corner of the net, much to the fury of Blanchard with the slack defending.
